This year has seen the launch of our exciting new Personal, Social and Health Education Scheme in Key Stage One! In September we introduced an innovative approach to the teaching of PSHE through a scheme called ‘1 Decision’ that has been reassuringly accredited with the ‘Quality Assured Kitemark’. We hope to roll out the scheme into Foundation Stage as soon as these new materials are made available.
1decision is an interactive platform that uses a mixture of resources incoroporating visual, auditory and kinaesthetic teaching approaches. The programme comprises a unique core of video scenarios which are introduced by Deedee, that the children watch as a class or within a group. Each clip has two alternative endings that are designed to stimulate and promote and stinulate high level discussion around making both right and wrong choices. These discussions are often followed by a range of enjoyable and engaging activities.
The aim of 1 decision is to help children develop the skills to manage different influences, situations and pressures as part of their on going personal developmment, to explore and challenge their own and others’ Values, attitudes, beliefs, rights and responsibilities. Providing children with accurate and revelant knowledge and strategies to live healthy, safe, fulfilling, responsible and balanced lives.
Our PSHE Curriculum is divided into eight flexible modules:
- Keeping and Staying safe
- Keeping and Staying Healthy
- Being Responsible
