Welcome to the new academic year in Y1 at Forefield Community Infant & Nursery School. We are very much looking forward to sharing an exciting year with your children with many super activities and topics planned. We also look forward to working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure the very best possible for your child.
By way of introduction, our Y1 team consists of Mrs Pugh and Mrs Byrne, Class 6 teachers, Miss Oldham, Class 5 teacher and Mrs Niblock, Class 4 teacher. Miss Pegg works across all the Year 1 Classes supporting children with learning and leading small intervention groups.
Should you have any queries at anytime, please don’t hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher or any of the team. We look forward to meeting you informally at the forthcoming ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions – please see this week’s Year Group Newsletter for more details.
December in Year 1
We cannot believe how quickly this half term has passed us by! The children have spent the past few weeks celebrating Christmas. The Christmas play was wonderful, we were so very proud of all the children. Each and every one of them shone in their own special way. They are a very talented group who embraced their performance with maturity, enthusiasm and confidence. We are very sure that you are as proud of them as we are!
The children have also made their Christmas cards in the style of the artist Michelle Holmes and have made a range of decorations for their classrooms including paper chains and snowflakes. We hope you like the calendars too!
Children have also met father Christmas twice, they each have a photograph to remember this special time – FOFIS did an amazing job in organizing this very exciting visit.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in helping your children at home and also for the wonderful gifts. Wishing you a very merry and enjoyable Christmas!
