Welcome to the new academic year in Y1 at Forefield Community Infant & Nursery School. We are very much looking forward to sharing an exciting year with your children with many super activities and topics planned. We also look forward to working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure the very best possible for your child.
By way of introduction, our Y1 team consists of Mrs Byrne, Class 6 teacher, Miss Oldham, Class 5 teacher and Year group leader and Mrs Niblock, Class 4 teacher.
Should you have any queries at anytime, please don’t hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher or any of the team. We look forward to meeting you informally at the forthcoming ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions – please see this week’s Year Group Newsletter for more details.
March in Year 1
World Book Day was a wonderful spectacle with all the children dressed in their Shakespearian costumes – never have so many witches, Kings, Cleopatra’s and knights been seen altogether. As part of the day we shared facts about our characters and the plays they appear in. We all learnt a lot about Shakespeare and drew beautiful portraits of this very clever playwright. They were enhanced even more by the creative and colourful picture frames the children made. The determination and perseverance they showed to ensure their frames worked was a credit to them all.
As our seeds grew bigger, we continued to learn about the different parts of plants and their functions. We also enjoyed walking around the school grounds, using iPads and cameras to take photographs of the different spring flowers we could see appearing. We thought they made very beautiful Easter cards.
