Welcome to our Nursery page!
At Forefield School Nursery we love to learn through practical, fun and meaningful experiences. We focus on developing core skills to help us as future learners. We spend lots of time outdoors developing our physical skills, bodily control and co-ordination. We also learn how to be good listeners and confident speakers. In Nursery we play lots of games which help us to become good friends.
We currently have three sessions in the Nursery, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and one whole day session for children entitled to the 30 hour offer. During these sessions we have whole class carpet time and key worker times when we work in smaller groups. We have lots of time to explore, learn and play in the Nursery environment both indoors and outdoors. We learn to be independent learners in the Nursery and develop lots of key skills.
Mrs Evans is the Nursery teacher. She works with Mrs Mc William who is the Nursery Nursery for all sessions. Mrs Harvey is the key worker for children who attend Forefield Nursery all day, and Mrs Porter supports children’s learning in the Nursery in the afternoon sessions.
Autumn 2 in Nursery
It has been a very exciting term in Nursery as we have been celebrating the festival of Christmas. We have been busy learning lots of Christmas songs and making music both inside and outside the Nursery. We have been busy making gifts and decorations to take home and share with our families as have been enjoying our Christmas role play area. We have been dressing up as Santa and the elves and helping to wrap presents and get ready for Christmas. We had a great time at our Nursery concert when we performed all of our Christmas songs for our families too.
Before Christmas we learnt all about the artist Kandinsky and we made our own pictures in the style of this artist. We also had lots of fun during our Gingerbread week when we found out all about the different types of ginger and how it is used to make different things which we even got the chance to taste. The Gingerbread biscuits were definitely a firm favourite.
Now it is the end of the autumn term and the end of 2018. We wish you and all of your families a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. We look forward to seeing you all in January 2019!
