Welcome to our Nursery page!
At Forefield School Nursery we love to learn through practical, fun and meaningful experiences. We focus on developing core skills to help us as future learners. We spend lots of time outdoors developing our physical skills, bodily control and co-ordination. We also learn how to be good listeners and confident speakers. In Nursery we play lots of games which help us to become good friends.
We currently have three sessions in the Nursery, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and one whole day session for children entitled to the 30 hour offer. During these sessions we have whole class carpet time and key worker times when we work in smaller groups. We have lots of time to explore, learn and play in the Nursery environment both indoors and outdoors. We learn to be independent learners in the Nursery and develop lots of key skills.
Mrs Evans is the Nursery teacher. She works with Mrs Mc William who is the Nursery Nursery for all sessions. Mrs Harvey is the key worker for children who attend Forefield Nursery all day, and Mrs Porter supports children’s learning in the Nursery in the afternoon sessions.
Spring 2 in Nursery
The spring 2 in Nursery has been an exciting half term as we have been learning all about builders which has has been great as we have some building work being completed on school very close to Nursery. We have read stories such as The Three Little Pigs and talked about and explored the properties of different materials. We have learnt all about building in our local area and in the wider world looking at the interesting and exciting features of each and trying to recreate these using our construction and model making resources. We have been building, building, building all half term both inside and outside. As the weather has been improving we have been enjoying the outdoor area, building, climbing, mixing and making in the mud kitchen and role play and den building.
We have really enjoyed our Jumping Jack’s sessions this half term and it was great to see so many grown up’s at our stay and play sessions. The children all thoroughly enjoyed showing parents how well they knew all of the songs, actions and dance moves.
This half term we celebrated World Book Day by coming into school in our pyjamas and sharing our favourite bedtime stories with one another. To end the half term we celebrated Easter making wonderful Easter bonnets and parading them around school, what talented hat makers we have in Nursery.
We hope you have a lovely Easter break and look forward to seeing you in the summer term when we will begin our new topic ‘We Are Gardeners’.
