Dear Visitor

Welcome to the website of Forefield Community Infant & Nursery School.  Whatever your purpose for visiting our website, whether you are a prospective, current or past parent or pupil, trainee teacher or due to visit our school for a multitude of other reasons, we hope you find the site both useful and informative.

Forefield is a highly regarded and thus very popular, three form entry infant school with an equally popular and over-subscribed 52 place Nursery.  At the end of Y2, the vast majority of our pupils transfer to our excellent, partner Junior School.

Our aim at Forefield, which is central to all that we do, is to enable all children to achieve their full potential in all aspects of school life.  We seek to fulfil this through the highest quality teaching and learning opportunities, planned through a broad, balanced and appropriate curriculum, in a stimulating and engaging learning environment.  We aim to encourage intellectual growth through the range of learning experiences that we offer, developing self-confidence, self worth and the resilience necessary for great learning.  We pride ourselves on our welcoming, caring ethos – an extension to the care and security that comes from family life, which we feel is fundamental to ensuring our pupils flourish. It is important to us, that we help children to develop effective relationships with their peers, teachers, parents and the community on a local, national and international level, based on a healthy, respectful attitude towards all people regardless of race, gender, creed, social background or disability.

At Forefield, our children experience a rich, relevant curriculum based on first hand learning experiences which motivate and engage children in their learning.  We have a key emphasis on the acquisition of basic skills, vital for future success.  Our curriculum is enriched through an emphasis on the Arts and International Partnerships, two aspects of our provision that have been recognise nationally through ‘Gold Arts Mark’ and ‘Full International Schools’ Award’ statuses, both achieved for the second time.  We are committed to and very proud of both achievements.

We offer a range of extra-curricular learning activities, attendance at which, enables children to accrue credits and graduate from the nationally recognised Children’s University in Y2.  This recognises children’s commitment to and involvement in, extra-curricular activities.  Through a range of opportunities, for example, Film, Art, Sign Language, Origami, Tennis, Singing, Dance, Spanish, Gardening Club, Enterprise Club and School Council, to name but a few, we hope children will pursue current interests, find new interests and develop their own particular talents.

We work closely with many community partners in order to provide the best for our pupils.  Key partners include All Saints Children’s Ventures who provide high quality, wrap around childcare on the school site and offer pre-school places and wrap around care at All Saint’s Church Hall for children from 2 years of age; our partner Junior School, ensuring a smooth transition for our children into Y3 and the next stage of their learning journey; the Local Authority Specialist Inclusion Service and healthcare professionals to enable us to provide for all children’s needs.  We work with local schools in Crosby including Chesterfield Specialist Sports College where the majority of our child transfer at age 11.  We also have special partnerships with schools in Spain, China and India which enriches our provision and ensures it is the best that it can be.

Our most important partners, however, are our parents and we value the close relationship that we have with them.  We know that working together is crucial to ensure the best possible outcomes for each and every child at Forefield.  We welcome opportunities to involve parents in the life of the school through celebration assemblies; Family Learning Days; parent workshops and courses; Parent Consultation Meetings; parent helpers in classrooms and on school visits; FOFIS – our PTA, as we know that we cannot play our role as effectively without this valuable support.

Finally, we are so fortunate at Forefield to have a friendly, approachable and extremely professional staff team, supported by a highly effective Governing body, both absolutely committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all learners.  They work tirelessly to ensure that children move onto the Junior School as confident learners, well-equipped personally, socially, emotionally and academically for the next stage on their life-long, learning journey.

We hope this website proves useful and gives a flavour of Forefield.  We organise regular tours of school for prospective parents when you can see us ‘in action’.  If you would like to find out more about Forefield, first hand, or to make any other enquiries, please contact the school office and we will be only too happy to help.

Thank you for visiting our website.

Kindest regards
